Biography

Decades of Commercial Real Estate Leadership

John joined KVM Capital Recovery from GEM Real Estate Services, a commercial real estate consulting firm he founded in 1989. Under his leadership, GEM built a reputation for navigating complex transactions and advising institutional clients on distressed and special-situation assets across multiple market cycles.

Prior to founding GEM, John spent 18 years as the Director of Acquisitions for the Herrick Company, a commercial real estate owner managing several billion dollars in portfolio holdings. In that role he was responsible for identifying, underwriting, and closing acquisitions across a diverse range of asset classes — experience that gives him a first-hand understanding of what lenders and asset managers require from a recovery partner.

At KVM Capital Recovery, John focuses on structuring and financing real estate special situations, bridging the gap between institutional lenders and the practical solutions needed to resolve non-performing assets efficiently. His relationships across the banking and commercial real estate communities are central to KVM's lender-first approach.
